Justice & Mercy

There can be no mercy without justice.

He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8. (NIV)

Justice – the process or result of using laws to fairly judge and punish crimes and criminals.

According to Webster, “The notion of justice appears hardwired into the human mind and heart.” (http://reference.yourdictionary.com/word-definitions/Definition-of-Justice.html)

Mercy – “refraining from harming or punishing offenders, enemies, persons in one’s power, etc.; kindness in excess of what may be expected or demanded by fairness; forbearance and compassion” (Webster’s New World Dictionary – http://websters.yourdictionary.com/mercy#
